The Nursery Playdance concept was created by Maureen Singh Mitchell,
Principal of Eden Dance, when the dance centre was first set up in 1979.
It is a class for pre-school children age 3+ which is fun, social and interactive
and where the children can learn to express themselves
through a mixture of story telling, mime and natural movement.
They build their confidence by working with the others and one at a time
developing their coordination, timing and musicality.
Just as importantly they learn the simple disciplines of the dance studio
with good manners, patience and waiting in turn to perform.
Nursery Playdance gives a young student the skills, confidence and ability to move on to the Primary ballet classes where they will start to learn the more technical and artistic techniques of ballet and begin their journey to being a fully developed dancer.
